The Perfect Marriage By Jeneva Rose

Sarah is an attorney and a damn good one. She is a partner at her firm. Her husband Adam is a writer, but not a successful one. Adam is accused of brutally stabbing his mistress Kelly Summers to death and Sarah has decided to defend him. 

Wow! What a book! This is a suspense thriller. I read this on my kindle. It's on Kindle Unlimited, so I was able to read it for free. I was hooked from the very beginning. I finished this right before I came down with the flu. So I'm now reviewing it. I did not once feel bored reading it. This was full of twists that I didn't see coming. I kept coming up with a theory on who might have killed Kelly, but I was proven wrong. I did not see that ending coming at all! It was definitely a jaw-dropping ending for me. This is definitely worth a read! I highly recommend it! I think I might purchase the physical book. It was that good! I'm looking forward to her new book coming out in April. I can't wait to read more by Jeneva.

 The Guest List by Lucy Foley 

Jules and Will planned their wedding to take place at a remote island off the coast of Ireland. To keep away from the paparazzi. Everything is going according to plan with a few bumps. Every guest has a secret, but only 1 won't survive the wedding. 

It took a while to finish reading it because I came down with the flu. That's why I haven't posted anything yet either. But I have several posts going up this week..This is a thriller. I purchased the hardcover sometime back in the summer of 2022. I gave this book a 3 star on Goodreads. I did enjoy the book. There were times I felt bored with the book, but then it would pick up again. I really didn't like having multiple POV. But I can see that with this storyline, it was essential. You just have to really keep up and pay attention. The mansion they were staying, where the wedding took place, to me was very eerie. It gave me eerie vibes. There was even a cave on the island, and a sinking bog of sorts. I say that because a character got stuck, and she was sinking before she was pulled out. LOL. It was storming too, so that could be a factor. lol..It is a quick-read. I do recommend it if you like a thriller, and don't mind multiple POV.

He's drawn to her, wanting to get to know her. But at the same time, he's angry and hurt. Also, he wants to know what happened. He can see that Kenna is hurting... Kenna wants to rebuild the bridges she has burned, but no one is willing to give her a chance. Everyone lost someone that heartbreaking day, but Kenna did too. Now she wants a chance to be in her daughter's life and repair the bridge she has burned. Well, Kenna hopes she can..

I kept hearing everyone raving about this one, so I finally read it. I bought it sometime last year but hadn't read it yet. I wish I had read it sooner! This was soooo good! I had moments of laughing and crying. I see why everyone loves it. This is the 2nd Colleen Hooover book I've read and it did not fail me. So so good! I'm so glad I bought the physical copy. This is definitely a keeper! There are heartbreaking moments, finding forgiveness for past mistakes, and redemption. I don't know what else to say without giving any spoilers. I could go on and on. It's definitely worth reading. I highly recommend it. If you're a Colleen Hoover fan, but haven't read this one or haven't read any by Colleen Hoover, then you should read this one!

What it's about - Jessica was looking for a way to make some extra money. So she decides to become a test subject. Her behavior is being monitored, and also being manipulated. So now Jess is caught in a web of several things that are dangerous.

I thought I did a review on this book last year but it turns out I did not. I read this back in the summer of last year. This is a physiological thriller...I first tried to read this earlier in 2022 when I first purchased it, but couldn't get into it at the time, so I put it off..Then I tried again when summer rolled around. It is slow at the beginning and I did feel a bit bored. I almost gave up, but I pushed through because I had heard great things about it. I'm glad I did because it started to get better almost halfway through. So I did really like it. I did think there was something weird with one of the characters, but I won't say who because it would spoil the book. I know this has been out for a while, so if you haven't read it and are interested in it. I'll post links below.

Sorry I haven't posted anything in the last 2 days. I didn't really have any idea what to post at the time. But I got my Book of the Month box on 2-9-23. I didn't get a chance to write this post on Friday, so I worked on it over the weekend to post it today. So what did all of you choose for your book of the Month for this month? I chose The Writing Retreat by Julia Bartz. This month's selection really didn't interest me all that much. I almost skipped this month. I was kind of interested in Georgie, All Along by Kate Clayborn, which I might still get eventually. Then I saw The Writing Retreat. The synopsis sounded interesting and it's a thriller. So I figured I couldn't go wrong with choosing this one. I'll post the synopsis in case you're interested in it.

Did you choose any books from your FirstReads this month? I almost didn't as nothing really caught my eye, til I read the synopsis for The Maid's Diary by Loreth Anne White. I'll be honest, I always thought FirstReads was part of Kindle Unlimited. But I found out recently that it's actually part of having Amazon Prime. The reason why I thought it was with Kindle Unlimited was that I was never able to pick any FirstReads books til I signed up for Kindle Unlimited. So that's weird I'm now seeing it's part of Amazon Prime. So I don't know if that was changed recently or not. But regardless, I love having Prime and Kindle Unlimited.

Anyways, back to what I chose. The Maid's Diary is psychological suspense. When I read the synopsis, it seems really good. So I chose it. Here's the synopsis of the book in case you're interested.

 The Housemaid by Freida McFadden

Millie is homeless and living in her car. Desperate for any job. But no luck yet. Until Nina calls Millie hiring her for the job of a housemaid. Millie was so happy to have taken the first step to get her life back on track..On her first day, something just seems off with Nina. Millie meets Andrew and Cecilia (Nina's daughter).  Millie cooks, cleans, picks up the daughter from school, etc..As days, weeks and months go by, Millie regrets taking the job as Nina makes her life miserable. But is everything as it seems as it looks? Find out by reading it.

Oh my goodness! I loved it! This is a psychological thriller. I was hooked, I could not put it down! I finished it in about 2 days. Well, less than that.. There were times I was yelling at the book as if Nina could hear me. She had my blood boiling! The things she was doing to Millie, the way she was treating her, blaming her for so many things, I was like "WTF is your problem lady?!"...After reading a bit more, a big twist comes along. My jaw just dropped! I cannot wait for the sequel to come out. I'm definitely going to read it for sure. This is a book I think is worth buying a physical copy of to put on my bookshelf. I have already added it to my amazon cart. I'm looking forward to reading more books by Freida. I was impressed with this one.

All I can say is Wow! It's a great book! I was hooked from the moment I started reading. I kept wanting to know more. I started it Monday, and I stayed up late last night (1-31-23) to finish it. It is a mystery, psychological thriller. I really don't want to spoil anything! I mean the ending had the biggest, insane twist that I did not see coming! I was blown away. The story was intense, captivating, and passionate with a bit of violence. I still can't stop thinking about this book. I'm going to have to read more books by Alex Michaelides.

 What I Read in Jan. 2023

So I made a TBR list for  Jan 2023. Did I read them? Yes, I did! I did read The Cat Cafe Christmas by Codi Gary and Layla by Colleen Hoover. Both were so good. The book reviews are available on my blog.

Did I read any other books this month? Yep, I sure did! I re-read the first Harry Potter book. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. It's on Kindle Unlimited right now. So good! Going to start Harry Potter the Chamber of Secrets soon. Then I read Unbroken Promises by Melody Grace. I was able to get it for free on Amazon for my kindle. I think it's still available to claim for free..I thought it was really good. Warning, this book is 18+, not for children or young teens. I will post a review on it sometime this week, so keep an eye out for it. I did start to read The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides Tuesday and I finished it last night. A review is coming for that one too.
